"In art, the hand can never execute anything that the heart can imagine." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
when i am dreaming big about my love of photography i only want one thing. i want to find beauty in all things with my camera. photographers have a way of taking the everyday mundane or forgotten and giving it life. whether it be a person, place or thing. we have all had these moments of greatness when you pull beauty out of something that is broken and lost its life. this is something that i think about often and look for in others photography.
i often have moments when i am faced with nothing to photograph and so i explore something forgotten like a broken down bus.
looking through my viewfinder i see something interesting but i do not see it as beautiful initially. then i come home and see it on the screen and i feel a sense of gratitude.
only if i could have these moments all the time. i have decided to not only make a conscience effort here but also put positive thinking to action. i am a true believer in if i think/dream it will be....it will be.

This is a very powerful post, Leaca. It takes the eye of an artist to see the beauty in the mundane. But the amazing and wonderful thing is that through their art, they give others the gift of a new perception, allowing them to see things in a new light.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is an amazing thing....something I will strive for. =]
ReplyDeleteHello! Just stumbled upon your blog. Love, love, love the above photo. I am not sure how you thrive up there in Kotzebue, I barely get through in Anchortown this time of year. I look forward to seeing more of your landscape in the coming months. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The photo above was actually taken in Dillingham but it is one of my favorites. And sometimes I wonder myself how I am able to live up here. =]
