He had been in the village all weekend working and he came home early. I always go over all I accomplished, it always makes me feel great to say it out loud. Sad I know but so darn true. So I start talking about his messes. He likes to play dumb during these interrogations.
Since I do not really want to audio record him I pull out my camera. First, he looks at me dumb founded and he asks "What are you doing?" I say that I am going to take a picture of him trying to get out of this. He is starving, he is eating, so I know he is not going anywhere.
He starts to laugh and I start the interrogation.
Me: "Did you make the mess in the entryway?"
Him: "I don't recall."
{he laughs}
Me: "Swear on our marriage?" This is something he would always say since we were first married. The kids when they were young picked up on this and when I would question them about something they and they were telling the truth they would always say, "I swear on your marriage!" In fact, our friends will say it too. Cracks me up.
Him: "Swear on our marriage????? I might."
{still laughing}
Me: "Do you want me to remind you about how the mess was made in the entryway and how long ago it was? Because I remember Mister!" I am soooooo tough.
Him: "I love you" and he smiles on cue.
Me: ***a puddle of mush***
I lose my train of thought in his sweet smile and forget about the entryway. How am I ever going to train a husband like this. Love just gets in the way sometimes. =]

I love this post! He does have a great smile. I too, have a messy entryway :)
ReplyDeleteThanks....I think I will keep him!

You do need to see them for yourself. It is very humbling and you can't beat that!
DeleteOh, I am the messy one in my relationship! I'm the one saying, "I don't know what you're talking about!" when asked if I made the mess. :) It's the answer that always makes him laugh.
ReplyDeleteLOL....he is always looking for something he is missing and when I have to look for something once in a great while he nails me on it. =]
